St Joseph for Reece?

Today, I took the kids to St Joseph School in Hilo to attend their Open House. I'm looking for a better school for Reece next year (7th grade). Here's a link if you wanna go check it out www.sjhshilo.org
I really like the school and their program.
But Reece is not liking the thought of leaving her friends at Keaau Middle School. But, oh well.. the tuition there is between 6 and 7K. So first I need to secure a job.

We stopped to get some DVD and books at the Library, before we headed home. I'm reading, My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Just started tonight.

I have to get working on my class work. I'll email out the chicken recipes today to Auntie Fely and Philip.

Italian Chicken

Woo Hoo!
I made a new dish tonight, Crock Pot Italian Chicken (from Saving Dinner by Leanne Ely) and the family loved it! I'm soo pleased. It feels so good to know that I made something new, and everyone loved ate it up!

If you want the recipe, email me.

Here a square.. there a square...

Here's a picture of an 8 inch afghan square. I found the pattern online and made it to send to a fellow crocheter for her project.

I'll try to post the website if I can. Still trying to figure this Blog thing out.

But the square is just the beginning...

Back to School

Wow, this week has been a much needed relief for me. The kids went back to school from winter break, our 1st PTSA meeting was this week, I began an online class in Administrative Assistant Fundamentals, also started in a new online crochet class (pictures to follow on my crochet project, joined the 2008 50 Book Challenge @ Crochetville, and began the task of dissolving the girls "TV" room, to a no-tv, no-play room. More details about that to follow in another post.

I'm glad that the kids are out of my hair, Roy's back to work and I can get moving with my life.

I'm looking forward to getting a job, gaining some self-confidence, and de-stress my life.

So, I'm gonna stop here and go to work on my crochet project - Bottom up Pineapple Shawl.

Till then..

Belated Birthday!

Again...

So today, Roy went to Oahu to begin the process of his 2nd deployment to the Middle East. You know, they worked on his will, stated who his dependants are, updated the contact information for the people the Army needs to call if Roy gets hurt, lost or is killed.

Sigh, again. He's doing this again. We're doing this again. Again.

This picture was taken the day Roy returned to US soil. My favorite military term from that was "Boots on the Ground." His safety was not guaranteed till... his boot's were on the ground. This was on 13 January 2006, at Kalaeloa, Oahu. Tomorrow will make a mere 2 years that he and the rest of the Hawaii Army National Guard soldiers returned home from participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom III.

They said that training may begin as early as mid-summer 2008. 12 month deployment.

Again.

Happy Hope!

Here's a picture of Hope with her new hair cut. Yesterday, Wednesday Hope and I went to Fantastic Sam's for her haircut. Ever since Chloe got a new 'do'... she's been begging for a cut, too.

She cut almost 5 inches off!

I think she looks great!

A To-Do list for the Year?

So, today I was wondering? There's so much I want to accomplish this year, Maybe I could make a "To-Do' list?
Have you heard about the movie, The Bucket List. It's a about 2 men who create a list of things they want to do before the kick the bucket.

My motivation is not like the men in the movie - but my motivation is...?
a sense of accomplishment? A sense of purpose? To leave a mark in this world? I don't know - really.

Is making this a list to simple? Maybe I can break it in to 6 month sections? This sounds good. I will need to ponder this further. resolutions

Too sensitive?

So this morning, while I was reading from my book of daily devotions, Roy made a comment to me that set me off. It really bothered me when he made an off color remark about what and why I was seeking a bit of spiritual hope.

Am I too sensative? After about 45 seconds after he made his comment, I changed my attitude and tried to not let it bother me.

My heart is hurt, but I tried not to let him see that.
He dosen't see that I feel lost and lonely in this stage of my life - living without my Mom.

There's so much I need to do... and I wish I had outside support. I try to cheer my self on from in my heart and mind - but, it would be nice to "hear" someone say encouraging words to me every now and then.

Snow on Mauna Kea

I found this picture on the Internet so I don't know who these people are, but this picture helps to describe what we saw yesterday.

Yesterday, Friday.. the girls and I drove downtown to run a quick errand. I was navigating through traffic when I noticed water raining out the bottom of the Toyota truck tailgate. Filled to the top of the truck bed was snow! There were even a few bottles of Heineken stabbed into the snow. It was a sight to see.

The girls and I smiled at the irony of a truck load of snow in downtown Hilo.

The temperature gauge in my Pilot said the outside temp was 74 degrees. Lucky we live Hawaii.

A Brand New Chloe

Today, after a full day downtown, we made a last minute stop to the Hilo Fantastic Sam's to get Chloe a new look.
10 inches! She cut off 10 inches!
It takes Chloe almost an hour each day to brush her very long hair. And this morning, I had enough. I told her that I just couldn't let her struggle with her hair. She was game.
Our day started our going to Kosmic Kone for lunch, then off to the Hilo Library for some much needed reading material and DVD's. Later we went to Wal-Mart to get some cat food. It was past 5pm by then and we headed up the hill to home. Then while waiting in the Wal-Mart traffic, I thought to stop by FS to see if they had any opening. When we got there it was only a 20 minute wait.. so after some persuading, Chloe agreed to get the cut.
The stylist, Tara, was very nice and she and Chloe worked out the haircut style. When her sisters saw the completed cut... they were soo happy and excited to see her. They jumped up and down laughing and expressing their joy. It was so cute. And the haircut cost like $13. Pretty good.
Chloe always had waist-lenght hair. It was like her trademark. But, as she gets older I can see her striving to make her mark on the world in other ways. I'm glad to be around to see her grow into a remarkable young lady.
Love you Chloe!!!!

Organized?

What is it about January that makes you wanna get organized? Begin a new? Start fresh?

I guess it's rather simple.. it's a New Year, dummy!

So, I've been trying to get my online photo storage organized so I can share them with anyone who cares to view them.

I got a text today from my fav cousin... she's heartbroken over a failed relationship. Cuz, if you should ever read this post.. you know that everything happens for a reason. It will get better, you will find a way. He's not your world. It's time to get your life organized - Throw out the trash and get new stuff!!!!

A New Year Prayer

May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,
But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making your path easy,
But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart;
Not by granting you unbroken sunshine;
But by keeping your face bright, even in shadows;
Not by making your life always pleasant,
But by showing you when people and their causes need you most, and by making you anxious to be there to help.
God’s love, peace, hope, joy to you for the year ahead.

Happy New Year!!!

2008 - Year of the Rat.

I hate rats. I know that this doesn't mean I plan to hate this year... actually, I plan on having a positive, uplifting, and peaceful New Year.
Going forward, I will carry my Mom's memory in my heart and share her devotion to family with those who are close to me.

** Mom, I know your at peace - and I miss you, but I am so proud of you. You endured many years of pain and suffering to stay in my life. Thank you for the gift you gave us all. Your transition to heaven was just as you hoped.. peaceful and painless. I will honor you in many ways for years to come - through the words I use to mother my children, the smiles I share with my friends, and the love I will shower on those around me. Be at peace forevermore - kim**

In '08.... I plan to focus on the career of my dreams, make my house - my 'home', stand strong during the possible deployment of my hubby Roy to the Middle East - again, support my girls in all academic and extra curricular activities they pursue. Not to forget the usual loose weight, eat healthy, find financial freedom, yada yada yada...

Let's see what the future holds for us, and pledge to always think in a positive, promising way.
Kazudoo!
