Wow.. It's almost Friday!

This has been a crazy busy week. Tomorrow is the May Day program for Keaau Elementary School. Many thanks to Roy for sending his video camera for me to use. It arrived today. I still have to work tomorrow - but I hope to find some time to take some pictures and video of the girls. Hope's class is performing a dance called the Cupid Shuffle and Chloe's class is doing a Hawaiian Dance (Hula-like). Chloe is also on the May Day Court. She is representing the 1900 era. They are not having a normal 'court' with island princess. The students are representing the centuries. There is 1700's, 1800's 1900's and 2000's. It's all kinda confusing for me. But I hope to post pictures and if I'm savvy enough - a video to my blog.

Tomorrow almost is the last day of school for Reece at St. Joseph School. Lot's of stuff going on this week.

I'm exhausted.

Wednesday night was our last general meeting for the PTSA at KES. We played a movie (called Labou) and sold hot dogs, chips, water, pizza and Bradda Pops. I was also elected as the new Secretary for the PTSA Board. This position is a 2 year commitment and I hope to do well and move on after that. Hope will be on to Middle School by then.

I've been trying to get my self back into a groove - my health is not that great - thanks in part to the VOG, and having a computer back, still trying to overcome some anxiety about the house and occasionally when I'm driving.

But above all.... this summer brings many things. Unbearable heat (yuck), much needed trip to Maui, and Roy's homecoming!!! So, hang there.. many things are happening and coming up!

Chow Fun

Here's my attempt at chow-fun. My mom used to make this for us and I miss it. I've recently asked some co-workers on how they make it and I came up with this.

It was very good and the girls ate it all up!!!
They want to make it for Roy when he comes home.
I had a little less than a pound of ground pork, minced garlic, black pepper, oyster sauce, a bag of frozen stir-fry veggies (this bag had carrots, green beans, celery, mushrooms, asparagus, and onions) and a package of Shirakiku Chow Fun Noodles.
I think if my Mom was here to taste it.. she'd like it.

Summer Shower

Out of now where... a sudden heavy down-pour came to bring a few minutes of relief from the heat. It was another hot sweltering day.

The girls and I ran outside and danced in the rain. It was wonderful! If you look carefully - you can see the drop burst on to the cement pad.

Oh no....

Speaking of seasons - it's cat seasons.
Look what the cat dragged in.
Kittens!
These are 3 of the 4 that we've seen so far.
The girls are thrilled. Me... not so much. I love the felines... but..

Summer's Here!!

Yes.. The seasons have changed, the months go past, the rain has eased off a bit. On a recent trip to Imiloa I learned that Hawaii has 2 distinct seasons. The wet season.. and the HOT season. No, not wet and dry - but HOT!
The wet season slowly ended end of April-early May.
With the string of luck I've been having - I'm looking forward to a change. So to officially end the "wet" season - I thought a trip to the pool on a rather melting hot day is the best way to do it.
Here is the girls enjoying the day. And not pictured - me - hopeful for a change.

After 2 days of hot sticky weather... Today turned out voggy, some drizzle and some cool temps. Interesting.

Happy sunday. It's been a hot day here. Can't believe May's almost to an end. This year is flying by. Is it a good thing?

At the pool we ran into life guard Mark. He was so happy to see the girls. We spent all of last summer here.

The weather in Pahoa is cloudy and breezy. Perfect for watching from the poolside.

Today we went swimming at the Pahoa pool. It was a hot sticky day so it was just the relief we needed.

Enough!!!

So, yesterday - Monday - I was in a minor traffic accident.

I know!

What else is gonna happen to me!? Everyone at work was telling me to go get a blessing or something. I agree!

The kids are fine - they were in school and the Pilot is fine - only a few scratches.

Here's what happened.. I was coming from checking the mail at the PO, and I was at the Kanoelehua intersection waiting for the light to turn green. I was about the 4th car from the light. When the light turned green, we slowly started moving forward - but the driver behind me thought we were moving faster than we were actually going. So she accelerated into the back of me.

I slammed on my brakes to prevent from hitting the car in front of me - but thankfully that car had already driven off. After a few minutes of shock - I pulled over to the side of the road. I didn't even look to see if the other driver was there or not. But thankfully, she followed me and came to my window. I was shaking and practically hyper-ventilating - I couldn't believe THIS WAS HAPPENING TO ME!!!!

The driver was a super nice lady who tried her best to keep me calm and she tried to call anyone I could think of - but not the police. I didn't need an ambulance - I just wanted someone I knew to come to my aid. I couldn't think straight. I had her calling Roy's work number repeatedly. I knew he wasn't there..... but that's all my brain was coming up with... OMG-call Roy-OMG-call Roy-call Roy. After a lot of failed attempts, she offered to drive me to the National Guard Armory (which was just behind where we were).

Once we got there... I found someone who took care of me and saw me safely home. Thank God! I can honestly say - I was saved by the National Guard! Heartfelt Mahalo's to David Ferreira and Mike Perez.

Today, my body hurts... but I went to work and did okay. I still hurt now, but some Tylenol PM will do the trick.

Above all.. I have learned that I can handle most of what the universe throws at me.
(And when I'm in a jam.. call on the Guard!)

Reece's 1st Boy/Girl Party

Today Reece went to her first Boy/Girl Party! Yes, there were parents there. It was a Bat Mitzvah / belated Birthday party for a fellow SJS class mate - Sarah.
It was held at the Hilo Womens Club and the dress code was
'dressy.'

Hence the grown-up dress.

Here she is...
